Exposure Control Plan templates

WorkSafeBC Regulation requires employers to create and enact a number of Exposure Control Plans.  As they are developed or shared, we'll post them here!

Township of Langley Pandemic Influenza ECP (added October 8/09)  TOL Exposure Control Program.pdf

The British Columbia Center for Disease Control (BCCDC) has made the following recommended changes to the BCMSA Exposure Control Plan template provided in May.  The Township of Langley ECP above takes all these changes into consideration.

Pg 3 – Policy:
Added- Policy statement that the municipality will follow direction and controls as specified by the BC Centre for Disease Control and the local Health Authority’s Medical Health Officer.

Pg 3 – Definitions:
Added- BCCDC:  means the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control
MHO:  Medical Health Officer

Pg 8 – Hand Washing Procedure
Changed – 70% to 60% as prescribed by the BCCDC.

Pg 8 – Cough/Sneeze Etiquette
Delete - Offer N95s to people who are coughing (not recommended by BCCDC)

Pg 8 – Use of N95’s

Pg 9 – Training
Reworded first sentence
Added last paragraph to fully describe type of training offered.

Pg 11- Appendix A
Changed N95 mask to Full Face Respirator under “control procedures” for Engineering employees who have contact with sewage.

Silica

Employers are required under Section 5.54 of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation (OHSR) to develop an exposure control plan (ECP) when workers are or may be exposed to airborne silica dust in excess of 50% of the exposure limit.

To assist occupational health and safety professionals with this task, WorkSafeBC has posted the following sample documents (in editable Microsoft Word format), which can be used to help create an employer’s ECP. Note that these sample documents are not sufficient to constitute an ECP; a WorkSafeBC occupational hygiene officer would have to make a determination as to whether or not a completed ECP meets the requirements of the OHSR.
